Happy Halloween everyone! I hope however you spend it you have an awesome time!
For this year’s post I decided to talk about what scares me. Mine is a bit out there and probably sounds a little ridiculous but to me it really does freak me out.
I am not scared of many of the typical things you associate with Halloween. Werewolves, zombies, ghosts would not bother me and if I met an actual vampire I would be too excited to worry about any danger. I really hate spiders but that goes for all spiders not just the huge over-sized ones that decorate shop windows for the month of October. Horror movies don’t scare me either and I prefer the night to the day.
What scares me is…aliens. It sounds strange, I admit it. I love sci-fi books and films, and a lot of them feature aliens. What bothers me is the thought of being asleep and suddenly there is a bright light outside your window and the next thing you know you have been beamed aboard their ship and are subjected to various medical pokes and prods before being let go again. And the worst part would be that no one would believe you if you told them.
Breaking it down, I think it is perhaps not the aliens themselves, it’s having any kind of medical procedure that scares me. I had a botched wisdom tooth extraction many years ago. The anaesthetic didn’t work and I was awake for the whole thing but I couldn’t move and could see various ‘shapes’ above me talking and continuing the procedure. I think in my own strange mind the memory of that has somehow developed into a fear of alien abduction.
Anyways there you have it. I would love to hear your thoughts and what you are afraid of. If you would like to share, please do comment.
Happy Halloween!
