How can he win with the odds stacked against him?

Blurb

Prince Hamish has no interest in fulfilling his duty of marrying. Not to a woman, at least. That doesn’t stop his mother, Queen Fiona, from presenting him with every eligible noblewoman that enters their castle. He’s certain it’ll be no different with the representative of the Udynea Empire.

So when they do arrive, Hamish is relieved the imperial prince, Darshan, is not the woman everyone expected. Until the man kisses him and Hamish is confronted by the very emotions he has been forced to conceal or be punished for. Emotions he is eager to explore.

But the kiss proves to be a little too public and leads his mother to take drastic measures to ensure Hamish adheres to her family vision. The contest of arms will force Hamish to make a choice: give up his happiness for convention’s sake or send the kingdom spiralling into civil war for the right to love his own way.

Demon’s Blood Book Proof!

I received the other week my book proof for the Demon’s Blood reprint! Overall I am very happy with how it came out and I really should have approved it by now but I’m a little stuck on one point and would appreciate your thoughts on it.

DB Proof

As you can see in the photo there is a fold line down the left hand side so when you open it, it folds all nicely. Now my question is about the text. It is currently aligned to the fold line so there is the same amount of space each side but it also gives the impression that it is off-centre if that makes sense? My question is should I leave it how it is or move it so the text aligns with the same spacing each side without taking the fold line into account?

Any thoughts anyone has on this would be very much appreciated as I’m really not sure what would look better.

Easter Weekend: I hope everyone was able to enjoy the long Easter weekend even though it was probably not spent how we all planned or wanted.

I spent Saturday sorting some bits out around the flat and watching some films. I also played more of my Animal Crossing (I now have two bridges so am much closer to not needing the stick to vault over the rivers anymore yay!). My little critters who share the Island with me always seem kind of angry for some reason? When I talk to them they are fine, but they stomp around the place looking furious! Maybe its all the weeds and stuff? I want my Island to be quite natural looking so I haven’t pulled them all up as I used to in previous games but maybe I ought too?

My new duvet set arrived! I’m so happy with it, it is so cute! Tash sat in my windowsill and watched me put it on. I think she was planning on claiming it as soon as I had finished but the sun had come out and her spot on the sill was nice and warm so she ended up staying where she was for a while!

Yesterday I mostly worked on Perfect World 3! I am getting so much done on that now! I think now I’ve sorted the issues I’ve had with it, it should write itself very quickly which is great! I have no idea how long it is going to be yet, but I have a feeling it will be at least as long as New Era. I also worked on my fantasy novel. I always have a couple of books on the go at the same time so if I get writer’s block on one I can switch to the other, which always works quite well for me. I also planned my chapters out for my fantasy novel which is a first for me so it will be interesting to see how that works out.

Today I worked some more on Perfect World 3 and played some Sims. Deacon is being a little horror and refuses to eat any of the food that Bella and Mitchell give him. Dallas is doing well in the drama club, she’s on level 3 Practical Performer now! She’s doing better at school again too and has made her first BFF Billie Jang! Don came by to see her once, or rather he was going to but he stopped to chat/flirt with Bella Goth so Dallas had gone to bed by the time he actually made it to the front door!

What Day is it Anyway? Friday, 10th April 2020

My day: Today is Good Friday so I am now off work until Tuesday! I spent most of today working on Perfect World 3. I am so much happier with it now and it shows through my writing as I got so much more done and everything is flowing better than before.

Last night my Asda order arrived. Most things were there just a few bits missing (lemonade, washing up liquid and parmesan cheese!). Most importantly I received both loo roll and pasta as I was worried that I would have to start rationing them soon!

I checked in with Bella and Mitchell late afternoon on Sims. They now have a son Deacon, and Dallas has aged up to a child. Their cat Luna also had a kitten! Some random tom cat must have knocked her up when she went out exploring! It annoyed me a bit as Ares (I panicked when it popped up with the name prompt and this was all I could think of) took the last slot in the household but he’s the spitting image of my cat Tash so I can’t bring myself to rehome him! I also treated myself to the university expansion pack as its on sale at the moment.  I wanted Dallas to become an actress so I’ve decided she will now to go University first and get the Drama degree when she’s older.

I went for a walk along the beach this evening which was nice as there wasn’t too many people to avoid! It was still warm too but not as hot as it had been earlier in day. The tide was out as well so I got to walk on the sand rather than the promenade.

This evening I’m going to play a bit more Sims and then check in on Animal Crossing. I also need to look at my emails. I received a message that everyone waiting for a parcel dreads. Hermes: We’ve got your parcel! Last time they told me they had delivered it to my door step when I was out and sent me a photo to confirm this – a photo showing Flat 5. I’m Flat 4! Luckily I have an honest neighbour and he brought it down for me when I got in!

What Day is it Anyway? Wednesday, 8th April 2020

My day: I’ve been working from home a couple of weeks now and tonight I’m starting to feel it. My back has been killing me all day. I can’t 100% blame home-working as before the virus outbreak I used to spend as much time on my personal laptop but being hunched over a laptop at my dining room table all day every day probably doesn’t help!

I’m still waiting to hear about my holiday although I have a feeling that the lock-down will be extended next week so matters will be taken out of the agents’ hands.

Literally as I typed that I received an email confirming it has been cancelled and they will call me to rebook or refund!

I decided to treat myself to a new duvet set last night from ASDA George! It’s so cute and I’ll post photos when it arrives! Tash is very excited about this too as she hates the set it is replacing (this satiny-silk material set which she slips off of when trying to get comfy!).

Not much else has happened today. I have managed to solve my issue I had with Perfect World 3! It was going fine but it didn’t really flow right if that makes sense and I was having real trouble getting excited about it as a result (I had the same issue with Demon’s Life which is partly why it took 5 years to finish!). I have now figured out why it wasn’t working in my mind though so I am hoping to make some tweaks and further headway on it this weekend.

Yesterday: Yesterday started with my midnight queue to get onto the Tesco’s website to try and book a food order for the latter part of the month. I’m having to go between Tesco and Asda to get a slot now which is really annoying. Honestly at times the food situation causes me more stress than the virus threat. I don’t drive and I have a medical condition which makes carrying a lot of groceries almost impossible so its been quite a worry for me as I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t get online orders. I had to wait about ten minutes but I was able to get a slot and do my shopping. Mission accomplished so I set my alarm and went to sleep.

I got up at about 8am and after getting dressed I went down to my local Tesco express to get milk and also see if they had any pasta and loo roll in. They had neither so I am keeping my fingers crossed that they turn up with my order on Thursday as I am starting to have to ration what I have left! I then cleaned my flat (and bleached the door handles again). I spoke to Mum and Dad on the phone. They are fine, are keeping busy and have neighbours and the village buddy system helping them which is good.

I had a pizza for lunch as a treat and when I went to do the washing up I found that Tash had decided to sit in my dish drainer! I think she was actually asleep in there before she heard me coming and sat up!

I spent the rest of the day playing my Sims. My prediction about Don was right and he left Bella for Nina Caliente! Luckily Bella has found love again with her lodger/slave Mitchell Kalani and they are raising her daughter Dallas Lothario together!

Today: I spent most of the day writing Perfect World 3. I will probably never have this much free time again so I am going to take as much advantage of it as possible to get it written. I also saw my Sims again this afternoon. It was Winterfest (aka Christmas!)! Poor Mitchell kept being given the empty present containing only sadness and lies 😦 but Bella and Dallas had a blast! Don came round to see his daughter but then ditched her to try and seduce Bella again. She is wise to his charms now and kicked him out!

What Day is it Anyway? Tuesday, 31st March 2020

My day: Work seem to have finally sorted their network issues out now as for the last few days I have been able to log on and stay connected without too many issues. I received an email from the manager first thing to say I’m to work from home full-time now so no more weekly going into the office. This is a relief to be honest. Until this is over I would prefer to be in my own surroundings and avoid public places as much as possible. This means that my first scheduled outing (apart from daily exercise!) is on 5th April when the milk runs out!

A group of us are taking part in the work virtual quiz on Thursday so tonight we need to come up with a team name. Any suggestions are welcome – all the ones I came up with were NSFW.

This afternoon’s entertainment was provided by three girls having a fight outside the church opposite my flat! They were screaming at each other and pulling each other’s hair! So much for social distancing!

This evening I’m checking in with my parents and then Sarah, so I decided to have a bath earlier and before feeding my cat. Big mistake. She usually gets fed at 6pm and it was 5pm when I was running my bath so it wasn’t as though I was making her wait longer but she made her displeasure known by ripping up my carpet in front of the bathroom door! So she got fed earlier but has a ten second memory and the minute 6pm came around she was trying to get fed again! I have a longer memory and with the carpet incident fully at the forefront of it she didn’t get even a scrap!

What Day is it Anyway? Sunday, 29th March 2020

Yesterday: Yesterday I decided to treat myself to a real lazy day. Before the lock-down I would have been busy doing something on Saturdays so for the first time in about 7 months I found myself with a free Saturday! So I played a bit of Animal Crossing whilst having a marathon viewing of Friday Night Dinner which continues to be hilarious no matter how many times I watch it. Honestly I just need light-hearted fun things to watch at the moment (thanks Amazon Prime for high-lighting Contagion when I logged in earlier yesterday!).

I also made a new household on Sims for a break from my legacy family. I decided to do something a bit different and created a mean, lazy and self-assured Sim who had the serial romantic trait. Bella doesn’t have a job and my only goal with her at the moment is to fulfil the aspiration. It was going pretty well except for she was running out of money! Her only income was beach-combing, odd jobs when she had the time and digging up stuff or harvesting from community lots. So I decided that she needed a room-mate aka slave to send to work and do all the cleaning. So I moved in NPC Sim Mitchell Kalani! He’s got the lazy trait too so the constant cleaning up after Bella and her dog keeps upsetting him! Unfortunately when he moved in he was suffering from a cold (ironic how this mirrors real life at the moment!) and so she caught it too. When I left them they were starting to get that funny red rash thing that they get all over their bodies!

In the evening I played some Pokemon and watched some more of Friday Night Dinner but I think Tash might have jumped on the remote at some point as I fell asleep and when I woke up Friday Night Dinner had been replaced by Ancient Aliens!

Today: Today I started my day with cleaning my flat which now takes a lot longer as I am so paranoid about germs so go a bit madder with the bleach than usual!

I then did some writing. I worked on my new fantasy novel as well as Perfect World 3. For my new fantasy novel I have tried something a bit different and actually have chapter outlines. I’m only on the prologue so far so I am not sure how well this will pan out but it will be interesting to see. I am on chapter 8 of Perfect World 3 now and I have a feeling that it is going to be a lot longer than the last two books in the series!

In the afternoon I checked in with Mum and Dad. They are fine and have a neighbour getting some bits of shopping for them. They also received the buddy card from the help network that is being organised in Selsey for people who are self-isolating which is great. Its really amazing how people have come together and hopefully the community spirit will continue long after the pandemic is over.

Then I went to see how Bella and Mitchell were doing. They have recovered from their colds but Bella broke up with her boyfriend Marcus Flex after he caught her cheating with Don Lothario! Don has also got her pregnant so I need to raise some extra funds for that house extension asap! Don has now moved in too but he didn’t seem that thrilled about the baby news so I don’t think he will be sticking around for long 😦

My day: I had leave booked today as me and my sister had planned about a month ago to go on a shopping trip to Portsmouth. I didn’t bother cancelling the day off with work as I haven’t had much holiday since Christmas so thought it would be nice to have a three day weekend.

I spent most of the morning on hold to my travel agent about our holiday to Crete next month only to be told that they could not amend it and that another department needed to call me back! They are doing it in departure date order which is fair enough but its slightly frustrating as I wanted to get it sorted out. I also had an email from booking.com cancelling our stay at the Gatwick Hilton the night before our planned departure as the hotel is closing until the end of May. I was going to cancel it anyway so that saved me a job at least.

After sorting that out (or not as it turned out!) I finally was able to log into Asda’s website after days of downtime and amend my order that I have booked for two weeks time. When booking it initially it was rather late so I made the decision to throw a load of random stuff in the basket and check out with the plan to amend it all the next day when I had more time. Then the whole thing crashed for days due to high usage and I had been slightly concerned that I wouldn’t be able to get back on and I would end up with a load of random stuff instead of a proper food order!

This afternoon I decided to visit my Sims 4 decades challenge. I’m really into the gardening side of things on Sims at the moment and their massive garden is coming along quite well at the moment!
