Shari’s Life: Covid Update and First Ever Squishmail!

Shari's Life

After about a week of feeling pretty yuck, Covid is finally on its way out! I’m still feeling sicky and tired and am left with a cough, but I’m much better than I was.  I am looking forward to testing negative so I can go back out again!

image1Today was a very exciting mail day as I received my very first Squishmail delivery! I was so excited when they arrived and they are just so cute! I got Amalie the snake and Rutabaga the caterpillar!

I love them so much and I have a feeling this is a start of a Squishmallow collection! I am going to try and restrain myself as I remember what happened during the 90s Beanie Baby craze. I ended up spending way too much and running out of space for them all!

Tash was very interested in them too! I think I might get her a stackable one to sleep on as she really likes sleeping on the massive Wailord plushie I have!

Shari’s Life: Broken World Update and Jubilee Weekend

Shari's Life

This week I had a week off so I used it to work more on the release of Broken World and also to spend some time with my family.

Broken World Update

1652373383The series tour has now been scheduled through Gay Book Promotions and you can sign up here. I would be grateful if you are able to sign up for a post to support the release. Review copies of all the previous books in the series are available now and the ARC for Broken World will be shortly. I am also preparing the print edition to release at the same time as the Kindle edition, and am currently waiting for the proof copy of this!

A couple of weeks ago I received back the proof for New Era and I signed this off yesterday so it should be live on Amazon very soon!

I will be posting some excerpts from Broken World in the run-up to release day. The first one will be posted on 9th June so please look out for this!

Shari’s Life: Old Photos

Photo 3aAs far back as I can remember, my Dad’s always been interested in our family history. He has spent a great deal of time researching the family and he also put together a book of his research so I am not the only writer in the family!

He recently gave me these very old photos that he was gifted by his cousin. I would say they are late 1800s/early 1900s and the originals are very faded.

Photo 1Sadly over time their identities have been lost as everyone who knew them is no longer with us. Dad hopes to identify them and asked me if there was anything I could do to enhance them. I did the best I could and hope that it will help him to do so. It got me thinking about all the prints I have and I will make sure I find time to write on the back who every one is so future generations are not left wondering who these people were to me.

Shari’s Life: Charity Shop Gets

Shari's Life

Today I met up with my sister and nephew and we went into town to do some charity shop shopping, which is so much fun as you never know what kind of great bargains you’re going to find!

image0My sister got a lot of clothes including this brand new dress that was from River Island originally and some brand new sandals that were originally from New Look!

I found some great bargains too! I got a writing set for £1.50 and a book for 50p that looks completely brand new as well! image2

I really enjoyed our charity shop shopping. Its so great for finding a bargain and we’re giving to a good cause too!

Shari’s Life: Getting fit and Holiday 2022!

Shari's Life

I think I mentioned a little (long!) time ago, I am trying to diversify my blog content. One aspect of this is a little look into my life. Hopefully this is something that will be of interest and provide some insight into who exactly Shari Sakurai is!

One goal I have had for a while now is trying to get fitter so me and my sister have joined the local gym! We have been going for a little while now and we are both really enjoying it. My favourite equipment is the cross-trainer and the treadmill. I liked the treadmill so much I bought one for home so I could use it on non-gym days. I’m already starting to see some of my work pay off as I have a drawer of clothes that don’t fit, so every couple of weeks I try them all on and usually I can move at least one item back into wearing rotation!

Me and my sister have also booked a holiday! I haven’t had a holiday since Japan in 2015 so I am long overdue and keen to start travelling again now that it is possible! We are going to Iceland! I am so excited as its a country that I have always wanted to visit! We are going for a few days in August and I will definitely take loads of pictures to share with you all!
