A spicy hot retelling of A Christmas Carol

Blurb

Marley Jacobs is dead, and Max Masters Scrooge has no time for the grieving son’s sob story. Even if Jacobs Jr. is kinda cute—for a nerd.

Daniel Jacobs is anxious, drifting, and lonely. His gut tells him he’s overdue for a dose of self care, but the thought of setting foot in a gym gives him hives. Though he craves gentle guidance, what he gets is the heavy hand of the gym’s head trainer and sleaziest playboy, Max Masters.

Accustomed to topping the leader board, among other things, Max sells Daniel on his gold package. After things get steamy in the locker room showers, Max is ready to make like a ghost and vanish, as usual. But this time, he won’t get away with his selfish antics, not if a vengeful past hookup with a powerful uncle has anything to say about it.

MM Scrooge is a spicy hot horror retelling of A Christmas Carol, as part of the collaboration Monsters & Mayhem: An MM Horror Collection, adapting some of your favorite classic horror stories with an MM romance twist.

Content Warnings:

This book’s list of potential warnings is longer than my grocery list. Buckle in. Readers, feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions. In no particular order: Dub-con that some readers may interpret as non-con. Consent issues. Poorly negotiated BDSM elements. Sexual violence/spanking. Sex as punishment. Death of a parent/grief. Medical kink. Sexually explicit scenes.

That said, this book doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that list might make it look darker than it really is. Better to err of the side of caution.

Happy Halloween!

Halloween 2022

Happy Halloween everyone! I hope you’re all having a spook-tastic day!

As you all know I am no stranger to paranormal experiences and today I thought I would share a couple of these with you.

This first one happened in the house where I used to live. It was probably close to midnight and I had just gone to bed. I was just drifting off when I felt a hand touch my bare back under my pyjama top. Of course, it made me jump and grab my phone for the torchlight. When I looked there was no one there. This never happened again but when we had first moved into that house, my sister said something did not feel quite right about it, especially in her bedroom. Strangely enough this feeling went away when she changed the position of all the furniture in there!

The second experience I am sharing with you happened when me and friend went to London to see VAMPS in concert. We had booked to stay in one of those Victorian house to hotel conversions. I cannot remember the name of the hotel, but the room had a spooky vibe to it from the moment we walked in. There were even creepy photos of long-dead Victorians hanging on the walls.

When we returned from the gig, we were both really tired and just wanted to go sleep. We had just turned the light out when we started hearing this creaking like someone was walking around in the room. Oddly, it was just coming from my friend’s side of the room. We put the light on, and nothing was there, so we put it out again. As soon as the lights went out it started again. My friend was getting worried now as we could both see some kind of shadow near the foot of her bed. It was tall like it was a person but there were no obvious features to it. I said to my friend we needed to ignore it as her getting scared was encouraging it. It takes a lot for a paranormal encounter to scare me, so I think this is why it was only on her side of the room. It somehow sensed that there was no point in trying to frighten me.

In the end my friend ended up sharing my bed and so the thing followed her across the room and the floorboards at the end of my bed started creaking. I sat up in bed and told it that we had been to a gig, and we were tired so would it mind please going to bother someone else. I honestly did not expect that to work but it did and off it went! After my friend had calmed down, we settled down to get some sleep and as I was drifting off, I heard someone in the room next door saying, ‘What’s that?’.

If you have experienced anything spooky or unexplained, please do share them with me!

Oops!

Some of you may have noticed today there were two posts of Shari’s Top5! This was not deliberate; I made an error when scheduling and one was supposed to be for next Saturday ^^;;

Fear not (Halloween bad pun!) I am going to schedule something else in instead and I also have a personal spooky tale or two planned for Halloween itself!

Shari’s Top 5: Horror Films

Top 5

Welcome to Shari’s Top 5! This is a feature I have created to showcase my personal top 5 of various books, shows, toys, music, films, food, etc, whatever I fancy focusing on for each post really!

For this month I am focusing on Halloween / Spooky themed Top 5’s. I hope you enjoy this theme and do let me know what your Top 5’s are too!

Top 5 - Horror Films5. Rings – A young woman becomes worried about her boyfriend when he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher seven days after he has viewed it.

4. Dark Skies – Lucy and Daniel Barrett are suburban parents trying to get by and provide for their sons. The struggles of normal life become extraordinary as the Barretts start to experience an escalating series of disturbing phenomena occurring around their home. Soon, the Barretts begin falling victim to alarming physical and mental afflictions, leading them to believe that they are being targeted by an unimaginable deadly force which they must uncover by any means necessary.

3. Lights Out – When Rebecca left home, she thought she left her childhood fears behind. Growing up, she was never really sure of what was and wasn’t real when the lights went out…and now her little brother, Martin, is experiencing the same unexplained and terrifying events that had once tested her sanity and threatened her safety. A frightening entity with a mysterious attachment to their mother, Sophie, has reemerged.

But this time, as Rebecca gets closer to unlocking the truth, there is no denying that all their lives are in danger…once the lights go out.

2. The Unholy – The Unholy, based on James Herbert’s best-selling book Shrine, follows a young hearing-impaired girl who is visited by the Virgin Mary and can suddenly hear, speak, and heal the sick. As people from near and far flock to witness her miracles, a disgraced journalist hoping to revive his career visits a small New England town to investigate. As terrifying events begin to happen all around him, he starts questioning if these miracles are the works of the Virgin Mary or something much more sinister.

1. Paranormal Activity – A young couple becomes convinced their suburban home is being haunted by a demonic presence. In the hope of finding some evidence they set up a video camera in their bedroom to film the room as they sleep. What they record is more terrifying than they could ever have imagined.

Top 5 - Halloween Activities5. Dressing up – I don’t do this much now I’m older but I used to love dressing up as my favourite spooky characters (or go traditional and be a witch or a cat!).

4. Decorating – My lounge has a gothic-y vibe normally anyway, but Halloween is the perfect excuse to go full out decorating with all things spooky!

3. Trick or treating – Again something I don’t do now I am older, but I loved doing this as a kid. I cannot wait until my nephew is old enough that me and my sister can take him!

2. Shopping – Halloween shopping is just so much fun! I love checking out all the Halloween-themed home decor, food and clothes this time of year!

1. Watching scary films – I love scary movies and this time of year there is nothing I enjoy more than curling up on the sofa with a blanket and bowl of crisps to watch a horror film – with the lights out of course!
